Space-Saving Structures That Work Hard

Just because a workshop is small doesn’t mean it can’t be versatile. Smart design, modular layouts, and efficient use of interior space allow even compact structures to support serious work. You can fit benches, shelving, tools, and materials comfortably while keeping the footprint under control. Many designs fall within permitted development rules, so you can often install them without planning permission.

At Noah, we specialise in making tight spaces work. Our UK-built small workshops are fully customisable in footprint, height, and layout to match your site and use case.

  • Typical sizes range from compact 6×4 ft up to 10×8 ft
  • Ideal for storage, crafts, repairs, or remote working
  • Built-in options for shelving and internal organisation
  • Weatherproof materials and pressure-treated timber as standard
  • Compatible with insulation, power, and double-glazing upgrades

01.

Choose a Shape That Fits

Apex roofs give extra internal height and a traditional profile. Pent roofs are ideal for positioning near fences or boundaries, helping to shed rain effectively while keeping a lower profile.

02.

Customise the Doors and Access

Choose between side or front access with single or double doors. We can adjust the door width and placement to ensure you can get your equipment in and out with ease.

03.

Get Natural Light Where You Need It

We can add UPVC glazing, skylights, or fixed windows. Options for privacy glass or high-security glazing are available to keep your tools out of sight but your workspace bright.

04.

Optimise the Interior Layout

From heavy-duty workbenches to tailored tool storage, tell us what you need. Our reinforced flooring ensures the structure can handle the weight of machinery and storage racks.

Built for Durability and Everyday Use

Every small garden workshop from Noah is designed to hold up in the UK weather. Even with a compact footprint, our buildings are made from strong framework and high-grade components. This gives you solid floors, stable walls, and a structure that’s ready for daily use, not just seasonal storage.

Durable Construction

Pressure-Treated Timber Framework

All load-bearing sections are tanalised to resist rot and insect damage. Panels are cut and assembled in our Telford workshop to ensure precision and quality.

Built-In Security

Weatherproof Roof and Cladding

Roofs are finished with high-quality felt or EPDM rubber for long-term leak protection. Cladding options include tongue-and-groove timber, cedar, or composite panels.

Stable Base Compatibility

Workshops can sit on concrete slabs, timber bearers, or ground screw foundations. We provide expert advice on base preparation to ensure your building remains level and dry.

Easy to Maintain and Modify

Our workshops are designed for accessibility. You can easily stain, paint, or add internal linings over time as your hobby or storage needs evolve.

Really happy with our garden room… From the first visit to the showroom, to the final handing over of the keys.
Sales team and build team were professional and friendly. Always responded quickly to any queries and changes we wanted.
Left the site clean tidy on completion.
The room is exactly as imagined and can’t wait to start using it. Sure to add value to our property.

From ordering through to delivery the service was faultless. The Ashbourne garden room is well designed and solidly constructed. Communication from the Noah team was excellent with lots of updates and advice. The fitters arrived spot on time and worked hard to complete the installation, were very friendly and conscientious. They left the room and surrounding area spotless. Would not hesitate to recommend Noah to anyone considering getting a garden room from them.

— Tony Lawther

I purchased a Mylor composite garden office from Noah garden rooms. Initially my partner and I were trepidatious about the base and delivery and the length of our garden as the stipulations by Noah were quite specific and our garden was quite away from the main road. I sent a video and multiple pictures of the site and then the base after it had been constructed, all the while liaising with Megan and Tilly at customer services to make sure everything went smoothly. On the day of the delivery the lads turned up nice and early and began work straight away. They didn’t mention how far away the site was or that we had to help because of the distance, just began work on the office. Unlike some workmen who spend all their time having lunch in their van these boys worked hard and for the two days kept me upto date as they went. I’m very happy with the office itself and can understand why the specifications are so specific. It’s been a month now and I love it, I spend a lot of time in there and have now made half into a library. Would recommend Noah to anybody who listened.

Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. Really knowledgeable staff and so so helpful. Megan was so patient in answering all of my ridiculous questions. I have never ordered anything like this before, but the process was so easy and I felt very confident in what I was ordering as the website is really easy to navigate with really helpful information. The room was delivered and erected seamlessly with really polite, knowledgeable and courteous workmen. I cannot recommend this company highly enough. I absolutely love my garden room – everything is exactly as I ordered and it looks fantastic. All of my expectations have been exceeded. I can’t believe what an easy and calm process it was from start to finish. Thank you so much.

Do You Need Planning Permission for a Small Workshop?

Most small garden workshops do not need planning permission. If your structure is under 2.5 m high and occupies less than 50% of your total garden space, it typically falls under permitted development.

However, if you are located in a Conservation Area or are planning a very large footprint relative to your plot, it’s always best to check with your local authority. Read our full Planning Guide for more details.

Small Garden Workshops – FAQs

Small garden workshops are designed for more compact spaces, offering a practical and cost-effective solution for those with limited garden area. While larger garden workshops provide more room for activities, small garden workshops are ideal for those seeking a functional yet space-efficient building. Both are made to the same high standard, but the smaller version is perfect for those with less space to work with, without compromising on quality or design.
