Do You Need Planning Permission for a Garden Building?
Noah garden buildings do not require planning permission, as they fall under permitted development rights. This means you can often add a garden room, shed, or workshop without needing to go through the full planning process.
There are some situations where consent may still be needed. Taller buildings, those located in listed buildings may need permission from your local authority. It’s best to double-check if you’re unsure.
A good rule of thumb is: if your garden building is under 2.5 metres high and stays within your rear garden, it’s usually allowed without extra permissions. But site-specific factors and your local council’s guidelines may affect this.
